WHO IS THIS FOR?

We improve plans and approval outcomes for architects, civil engineers, council planners and communities.

Architects & Civil Engineers

We help you engage communities more deeply, enabling meaningful, constructive conversations and authentic insights in the place where the development is happening. We align plans with community needs, reducing resistance and supporting projects to stay on time and on budget. The AR activity can be delivered iteratively through the early stages of planning, depending on need, size of project and timescale.

Communities

Future Places Toolkit aims to involve more diverse people in a meaningful way in neighbourhood visioning, giving people agency in local place-making, democracy and decision-making. Our inclusive and accessible approach involves communities who might not otherwise engage with planning, including with young people. It makes plans easier to understand in context, bringing them to life in a fun way, and offers a way to do collaborative co-design with communities and stakeholders.

Councils

We help council planners and regen teams to better engage communities during planning in order to get improved plans and approval outcomes, by giving them an engaging immersive tool used in the location where the project will be built. Our vision is both of smoother planning processes and of plans that are better aligned with local wants and needs.

Facilitate workshops

We bring 27 years experience of participatory theatre and community facilitation to create interactive and immersive workshops to engage, inform and consult with communities about proposed developments. By merging cutting-edge technology with artistic practices, the FPT fosters deeper community involvement in 3D urban planning. FPT brings plans to life in a fun way. It's a shared experience, which brings groups together for meaningful and constructive discussions, providing balanced and honest insights into what people really want and need. Workshops are held in the development site and all the equipment is provided.

Innovative Technology.

The toolkit combines an intuitive AR app with a Unity Editor plugin, allowing a professional artist to create 3D visuals in real-time based on participant input. The toolkit's VR sculpting tool ensures that all 3D objects maintain an illustrated appearance, promoting accessibility and ease of use. The tool's integration with the Google Geospatial API enables the creation of AR layers on virtually any urban environment, providing a powerful platform for stakeholder engagement which far surpasses what is currently achievable in the architectural planning sector.
